Speech Title and Abstract

Zero Carbon with MHI high performance Centrifugal Chiller

MHI high performance centrifugal chiller offers an excellent solution for energy saving and CO2 emission reduction along with preventing ozone layer depletion and global warming. It is widely used for air conditioning of commercial facilities (i.e. office buildings, hotels, data centers and district cooling and heating systems), process lines and industrial plants (i.e. semiconductors, automotive supplies, etc.).
Section 1: The characteristics of MHI centrifugal chiller.
MHI’s new-generation centrifugal chillers, using low-GWP refrigerants R1233zd (E) and R1234yf, continue to maintain high quality, high performance and large capacity up to 5,000 tons (RT). And for large capacity requirements such as semiconductor plants and district cooling, the normal single-compressor type chiller and PL type chiller(equipped with two serially arranged compressors) are available to meet various customer requirements (installation space, performance, cost, etc.). In addition, the predictive maintenance for chiller and the introduction of MHI remote monitoring system can maintain the high efficiency of the chiller, and also contributing to energy conservation and supporting the sound operation of customer facilities.
Section 2:The characteristics of heat source plant with MHI centrifugal chiller.
Plant design and operation method considering climate conditions and cooling loads will be discussed. A case study shows the most efficient energy saving effect can be achieved, by considering the various climate conditions and load predictions in six cities(Tainan, Tachung, Taipei, Seoul, Korea, Tokyo, and Singapore), with the optimum combination of fixed speed and inverter speed chillers maximizing the performance characteristics. These results indicate that the operation method and the optimum control system considering each site condition have a positive effect on the reduction of capital expenditure and operating expenditure.
