Wen-Chang Chen, born in 1963 in Taichung, Taiwan, has served as the 13th President of National Taiwan University (NTU) since January 2023. He earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from NTU (1985) and Ph.D. from the University of Rochester, USA (1993). After working at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (1993–1996), Prof. Chen joined NTU's Department of Chemical Engineering in 1996, advancing from Associate Professor to Professor while serving in various administrative roles, including Director of the Graduate Institute of Polymer Science and Technology and Dean of the College of Engineering (2017–2023). A distinguished researcher in electronic polymers and nanomaterials, he is an Academician of the Asia Pacific Academy of Materials and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. His honors include the National Science Council's Outstanding Research Award, the Ministry of Education's National Chair Professorship, and the French Legion of Honour (Chevalier, 2025) for promoting Taiwan-France academic collaboration. As NTU President, Prof. Chen focuses on enhancing international visibility, fostering interdisciplinary research,
and strengthening global partnerships with leading universities in Europe and Asia.
